That Kind of Effortless

In Conversation with Ludovica & Ginevra Fagioli, founders of Caftanii

Q:  Having graduated from Istituto Marangoni in Florence, what is the most important lesson this career has given you?

Be open-minded. It was this mentality that allowed me to extend my possibilities and imagination, especially in such a practical and fast-moving sector like fashion.

Q:  What advice would you give to someone who is beginning their career in fashion?

Patience and confidence: the industry moves fast, but growth comes from persistence and staying true to your vision.

Q:  How would you describe Florence in three words?

Incredibly difficult to describe in just three! But I would have to say charming, inspiring, & extraordinarily familiar.

Q:  How would you describe Caftanii in three words?

Timeless, feminine, expressive.

Q:  How would you describe your style?

My style is trendless, with a balance between elegant and minimal. I like to introduce subtle touches to express my character while still maintaining a cohesive, soft, and feminine look.

Q:  When and how was your passion for fashion born?

Creativity has always been a part of me- drawing, painting, writing, or making things by hand. As a child, I would cut out my favorite runway looks from Vogue and assemble them into outfits in an album.  I believe this natural artistic ability and admiration, along with being inspired by my mother’s great sense of style, revealed my passion for fashion.

Q: How do your Colombian & American origins influence your style?

My dual background has strongly shaped my perspective. Working closely with talented Colombian designers like Beatriz Camacho and Johanna Ortiz opened my creativity in styling. I’m fascinated by how they integrate Colombian culture and architecture into their designs while maintaining elegance and femininity. My special background is something I will always carry with me and use as a source of inspiration.

Q:  What are your travel must-haves?

Levi 501’s, white t-shirt, oversized cardigan.

Q:  Who are your fashion icons?

Kate Moss & Jane Birkin

I would say my style is very trendless, with a balance between elegant
and
minimal.
